Shopify request a quote, fixed.

Shopify B2B ships without quoting. Here is exactly what draft orders cover, where they stop, and how the Buying Tools module closes the gap.

TL;DR

Shopify B2B has no native request a quote feature: buyers cannot initiate a quote from the storefront, and draft orders, the closest native tool, have no versioning and no expiry. Most merchants bridge the gap with request-a-quote apps built for lead capture rather than wholesale negotiation. B2B Supercharge's Buying Tools module adds real quoting to Shopify: your team builds quotes line by line against margin floors, buyers accept them in their account, and the accepted quote converts straight to an order.

Does Shopify have a request a quote feature?

No. Shopify's B2B feature overview lists companies, catalogs and pricing, payment terms, draft orders, themes, analytics, Flow, and APIs. Quoting is not on the list, and the full native feature list contains no quote request, quote builder, or quote negotiation capability. The developer docs confirm the same feature set. A buyer on a Shopify B2B storefront has no way to say "give me a price on this" without going through checkout.

That gap matters because quoting is where wholesale deals actually happen: a buyer names quantities, your team names prices, and the agreed numbers become an order. Shopify covers fragments of that flow through draft orders. It does not cover the flow itself. The full teardown lives in our KB chapter on quoting on Shopify B2B; this page is the fix.

What does native Shopify give you instead?

Two paths, both built on draft orders, both available on every plan that supports B2B (Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus):

  1. Draft order as manual quote. Your staff builds a draft order for a company, sets custom negotiated prices per line, and sends it as an invoice with a secure checkout link. The buyer pays, or the merchant marks it complete.
  2. Checkout to draft. A per-company-location setting ("Submit all orders as drafts for review") replaces the Pay button with Submit for approval. No payment is collected; the order lands in admin Drafts with prices locked until you approve it or send an invoice.

Map those against what a real quote workflow needs and the gap is visible:

Is a Shopify quote app the answer?

The App Store has a dedicated Pricing quotes category with 162 apps. The category's own description states the pattern: "Invite customers to request a quote. Once you agree on a price, convert it into an order instantly." In practice that means a request-a-quote form, often paired with hidden prices, that converts an inquiry into a draft order.

That pattern solves lead capture. It does not solve B2B quoting. The typical form-first app is not connected to the buyer's contract pricing, does not track quote status through negotiation, does not put the quote in the buyer's account next to their orders and invoices, and gives your sales team no margin guardrails while they price the deal. If your buyers are companies with negotiated terms rather than anonymous visitors asking for a price, the form-first tools stop short of the workflow you actually run.

The fix: quoting in the Buying Tools module

B2B Supercharge adds quoting to Shopify B2B as the flagship of its Buying Tools module. The workflow, end to end:

Quoting ships alongside the rest of Buying Tools: a quick order pad for SKU-based entry, CSV upload that turns a buyer's spreadsheet into a validated cart, saved carts shared across the buyer's team, and a live pricing API that serves each buyer's real contract price to punchout and procurement systems. Contract pricing itself is covered in the KB chapter on live pricing beyond price lists.

What happens after the quote?

The quote does not end at the order. With the ERP & CRM Integrations module, quote line items and status sync two-way with HubSpot or Salesforce, so a quote in Shopify is a deal in your CRM. Sales reps working accounts by phone can build and edit carts on a buyer's behalf through the Sales Rep Toolkit, with every action logged. And because B2B Supercharge is built on Shopify's native B2B foundation, orders, checkout, and payment terms stay exactly where Shopify puts them; see the KB chapter on B2B checkout and draft orders for how those flows work underneath.

Installs as a Shopify app. No replatform. The base platform is free and every module switches on independently. If quoting is the gap that hurts most, start there. Book a demo and see a quote go from built to accepted to ordered.

Frequently asked questions

Does Shopify B2B have a built-in request a quote feature?

No. Shopify's B2B feature set covers companies, catalogs, payment terms, and draft orders, but contains no storefront quote-request capability. Quoting is done manually through draft orders or added with an app.

What is the closest native thing to a quote on Shopify?

A draft order. The merchant builds the order with custom negotiated line prices, sends it as an invoice with a secure checkout link, and the buyer pays or the merchant converts it to an order.

Is checkout to draft the same as a quote request?

No. Checkout to draft is a merchant review flow: the buyer must build a cart and go through checkout at catalog prices, and the order submits as a draft for approval. There is no price negotiation initiated by the buyer.

Can a Shopify draft order expire like a real quote?

No. Draft orders have no price-expiry field; the only time-bound field, reserveInventoryUntil, releases reserved inventory. Drafts created on or after April 1, 2025 are also purged after one year of inactivity.

Can buyers see quote revisions on Shopify natively?

No. A draft order is a single mutable record with three statuses: open, invoice sent, and completed. Shopify documentation exposes no revision history or counter-offer mechanism, so negotiation happens off-platform.

Do I need Shopify Plus to use B2B Supercharge quoting?

Yes. B2B Supercharge is built on Shopify's native B2B foundation, which it uses as the base for companies, pricing, and checkout. It installs as a Shopify app, so there is no replatform.

How does B2B Supercharge quoting work?

Your team builds quotes line by line against margin floors, with list and quoted prices side by side. Buyers see the quote in their Shopify customer account, accept it, and it converts to an order at the quoted prices. Quotes can also sync to HubSpot or Salesforce as deals.
