Shopify B2B Deep Dive / What Shopify B2B actually includes

What Shopify B2B actually includes.

The full native feature set, plan by plan: what every Shopify plan gets, what Shopify Plus adds, and the workflows that still require an app.

TL;DR

Shopify B2B is a built-in wholesale suite: companies with locations and contacts, catalogs with volume pricing, net payment terms, vaulted cards, a dedicated B2B checkout, draft orders, quick order lists, and self-serve customer accounts. As of 2026 the core runs on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus; Shopify Plus ($2,500 USD/month on a 1-year term) removes the 3-active-catalog cap and adds direct catalog assignment, deposits, and partial payments. Quoting, buyer-side approvals, batch invoice payment, rep login-as-customer, and ERP/CRM connectors are not part of the native feature set and come from apps.

What is Shopify B2B?

Shopify B2B is the set of wholesale features built directly into the Shopify admin. It rests on a dedicated object model: a company is the business entity that purchases from your store, company locations are its branches with their own billing and shipping addresses, tax settings, and checkout configuration, and company contacts are the people who buy on its behalf. When a buyer signs in and selects a location, that selection determines the catalogs, pricing, tax exemptions, and checkout settings applied to the order.

On top of that model sit the buying features: catalogs that pair a price list with a product publication, volume pricing and quantity rules, payment terms from Net 7 to Net 90, vaulted credit cards, a one-page B2B checkout, draft orders with merchant review, purchase order numbers, quick order lists, easy reorders, and self-serve customer accounts. All of it runs in the same admin as your DTC business. This chapter maps the whole surface; the rest of the Deep Dive goes feature by feature.

Do you need Shopify Plus for B2B?

Not for the core anymore. As of 2026, companies, company locations, net payment terms, vaulted cards, draft orders, quick order lists, and sales staff permissions are available on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus, per Shopify's plan comparison. What Plus still gates is exactly the set of features serious wholesale operations hit first:

FeatureBasic / Grow / AdvancedShopify Plus
Companies, locations, contactsIncludedIncluded
Active catalogsUp to 3 across all B2B marketsUnlimited
Catalog assignmentVia B2B marketsDirect to a specific company or location
Net terms, vaulted cards, ACHIncludedIncluded

The practical read: a small wholesale program fits on a standard plan. Once you need per-customer pricing at scale (more than 3 catalogs, or catalogs assigned straight to a company), deposits, or split payments, you are on Plus.

How much does Shopify Plus cost?

Shopify Plus is $2,500 USD per month on a 1-year term, or $2,300 USD per month on a 3-year term. Higher-volume businesses may instead pay a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model, which Shopify notes differs for B2B and D2C companies.

Blended or dedicated: one store or two?

Shopify supports two ways to run B2B: blended, where one store serves both wholesale and DTC buyers, and dedicated, where a separate store handles B2B only.

Blended (one store)Dedicated (separate store)
Best whenProducts, inventory, and staff overlap between B2B and DTCYou need separate inventory, separate teams, or gated access
Apps and integrationsSet up and paid for onceSet up and paid for again on the new store
ReportingMixed; needs filteringB2B-only by default
Different content and pricing per buyer groupExtra setup; storefront contextualization via Markets requires Advanced or PlusBuilt in by separation
Access controlPublic storefrontCan be restricted to B2B customers only

Choose carefully. Shopify's own guidance warns the decision is "not easy to change at a later time": switching means redoing most of your setup work, including companies, catalogs, and online store customizations.

What are the hard limits?

Documented numbers worth knowing before you scope a build:

Shopify's considerations page also lists what does not work with B2B at all: accelerated checkouts (Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay), purchase options such as subscriptions and pre-orders, local delivery and pickup points at B2B checkout, tipping, legacy customer accounts, and checkout.liquid customizations. Some third-party apps do not support B2B, which is vendor-dependent. A further set of features is off by default for B2B and requires a support request to enable: discounts, pickup in store, line item scripts, abandoned checkouts (also Plus-only), and gift cards at checkout.

Two operational constraints trip up more projects than any feature gap. A B2B customer must be assigned to a company location at the moment of order placement or contracted rates do not apply. And sales rep permission restrictions do not filter Analytics, Marketing, or Home data down to assigned locations, so a rep with those permissions sees company-wide numbers.

What is not included in Shopify B2B?

Honest scoping matters more here than anywhere else. The following workflows do not appear anywhere in Shopify's B2B documentation as of our last verification pass. Shopify documents an adjacent primitive in most cases, but not the workflow itself:

WorkflowStatusWhat Shopify documents instead
Quote request and negotiationNOT NATIVEDraft orders with price locking and invoices. Checkout-to-draft is merchant review, not buyer-side quoting. See quoting on Shopify B2B and the fix.
Buyer-side order approvals and spend ceilingsNOT NATIVEContact permissions stop at two roles: location admin and ordering only. See the fix.
Batch payment of multiple invoicesNOT NATIVEPayments are per order or draft order. See the fix.
Rep login-as-customerNOT NATIVEReps create draft orders on behalf of customers; no storefront impersonation is documented. See the fix.
Buyer-facing order search and reportingNOT NATIVECustomer accounts document order history and tracking only. See the fix.
ERP and CRM connectorsNOT NATIVEDocs route integration to the APIs, Flow, and third-party apps. See the fix.

The full, dated, source-linked list of every constraint lives in the Constraints Ledger. Each of the six gaps above is closed by a B2B Supercharge module: Account Tools, Buying Tools, Payments, Sales Rep Toolkit, and ERP & CRM Integrations install on top of native B2B rather than replacing it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shopify B2B only available on Shopify Plus?

No. As of 2026, companies, net terms, vaulted cards, draft orders, quick order lists, and sales staff permissions run on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus. Plus removes the 3-active-catalog cap and adds direct catalog-to-company assignment, deposits, partial payments, and payment requests per fulfillment.

How much does Shopify B2B cost?

Core B2B features are included on the Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus plans, so B2B itself carries no separate fee. Shopify Plus, which unlocks unlimited catalogs and advanced payments, costs $2,500 USD per month on a 1-year term or $2,300 USD per month on a 3-year term, with a variable platform fee possible at higher volumes.

What does Shopify B2B include natively?

Companies with locations and contacts, catalogs combining price lists and product publications, volume pricing and quantity rules, payment terms from Net 7 to Net 90, vaulted credit cards, a dedicated B2B checkout, draft orders, PO numbers, quick order lists, easy reorders, self-serve customer accounts, sales staff permissions, and Flow automations.

Does Shopify B2B include a quoting workflow?

Shopify's documentation does not describe a native quote feature. The documented pattern is draft orders: build or review a draft, lock prices, reserve inventory, and send an invoice with a checkout link. See quoting on Shopify B2B for the full picture.

Should I run B2B on my existing store or a separate one?

Blended (one store) fits when products, inventory, and staff overlap, and you pay for apps once. Dedicated fits when you need separate inventory, gated access, or separate teams, but every app must be set up and paid for again. Shopify warns the choice is not easy to change later.

Do Shop Pay, Apple Pay, or Google Pay work in B2B checkout?

No. Accelerated checkouts, including Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay, are incompatible with B2B checkout.

Does Shopify B2B support subscriptions?

No. Shopify's developer documentation states that B2B does not support purchase options such as subscriptions, pre-orders, and try before you buy.

How do B2B customers log in?

Through new customer accounts: buyers enter their email and receive a one-time 6-digit code, with no password to manage. Legacy customer accounts do not work with B2B.
